Martin B-10B with Wright R-1820-22 engines. Logo (Indian Head) is that of the 28th Bombardment Squadron of the USAAC in the Philippine Islands. The photo was taken in November 1939; by the next June there were seventeen B-10Bs in the 28th BS. Notice that the forward turret has been rotated to its aft position so that the gunner’s slot is not allowing an air blast to enter his compartment. The aircraft has been painted with a glossy aluminum color paint that can be seen for miles. By August 1941, most of the 28th BS B-10Bs were painted in olive drab. The loop antenna, between the pilots’ cockpits, is used for low frequency radio directional navigation.  (AAHS Photo No.10240 donor Lloyd Jones)
