January 13 1942. The patrol ’Lukkien’ executes an attack on the embarkation fleet off the coast of Tarrakan, while being attacked by Mitsubishi Zeros of Tainan Air Group. The Martin in front waved off and was shot down. The M-588 and the M-589 (WH-3A’s) were respectively shot down and heavily damaged. Painting by Thijs Postma.
